Explosion at Syncrude Canada oilsands site injures one

(CP) - One worker has been injured in an explosion and fire at a Syncrude Canada oilsands site in northern Alberta.

The company sent out a tweet on Tuesday evening saying the fire at the Mildred Lake upgrader has been isolated and is under control, and that all workers should report for their night shifts as usual.

A spokesman for Syncrude says the fire broke out just before 2 p-m on Tuesday, March 14th, and the company's crews began fighting the flames.

There's no word on how many people were working at the site when the fire broke out, but Syncrude employs about 46-hundred in the region.
