Federal defence minister orders officials to take a look at military spending calculations

Canada's defence minister says he's ordered officials to look at how Canada calculates military spending as compared to other NATO member states.

Harjit Sajjan says he wants to make sure all allies are comparing ``apples to apples.''

Canada and other NATO countries are facing pressure from the Trump administration to increase defence spending to two per cent of G-D-P.

Sajjan wouldn't say whether he's prepared to include such items as the coast guard and veterans programs, as the U-S and other countries do.
