Feds expected to announce plan to address Phoenix pay system woes
Ottawa is expected to roll out a fix for its troublesome Phoenix payroll program -- a system that has left some civil servants waiting for their pay cheques for months on end.
CBC reports the plan includes a $140 million strategy to help get employees paid on time as well as help for employees who had a tough time filing their taxes due to the Phoenix system.
A government source says problems related to the system will be examined by a special task force, chaired by Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale.
Money the system was expected to save will be diverted to cover costs related to the pay system.
