Financial Aid to Residents impacted by flooding in New Brunswick

The Canadian Red Cross has announced financial assistance for households in communities directly impacted by spring flooding.

In a press release yesterday, the aid agency says residents may receive $600 to help meet immediate needs, with additional details communicated to registered evacuees starting Monday May 6.

To receive this assistance, those impacted need to be registered with the Red Cross so individual assessments of needs can be completed.

The aid agency says residents can register in person at Canadian Red Cross reception centres in Fredericton and Saint John, by phone at 1-800-863-6582 or online at redcross.ca/GetHelp with only one registration per household required.

This financial aid is separate from funding residents may receive through insurance, or the Disaster Financial Assistance Arrangements offered by the province.

The Canadian Red Cross says these funds are available thanks to governments and generous individuals and businesses across the country.

Canadians who would like to help can make a financial donation online at redcross.ca, in person at any Red Cross office, by calling 1-800-418-1111 or by texting FLOODNB to 30333 to make a $10 donation.
