Fire departments team up with DNR to rescue stranded camp owner

The Bathurst and Saint-Anne Regional Fire Departments teamed up to rescue a camp owner in the Indian Falls area Sunday.

A man in his 50s crossed over to his camp via an access bridge that was submerged by high water when he felt it begin to collapse beneath his feet.

Saint-Anne Regional Deputy Chief Dave Murphy says the man and his dog were brought to safety, without injury, thanks to the joint expertise of the two departments and the Department of Natural Resources.

Murphy says the incident serves as a reminder to use caution when road washouts are present and to never venture into water you are unfamiliar with.
