'Fire Prevention Week' kicks off in N.B.
This week is national fire prevention week and this year's theme is "Look. Listen. Learn."
Acting provincial fire marshal Michael Lewis says the annual campaign helps remind families to take preventative measures which can save lives.
This year's campaign highlights three steps you can take to escape a fire: look for places a fire could start, listen for the sound of the smoke alarm, and learn two ways out of every room.
Statistics Canada data shows the number of structure fires fell by 26 per cent between 2005 and 2014, but residential fires accounted for three of every five fires.
