Francophone Northeast School District considers closing four Acadian Peninsula schools
The Francophone Northeast School District is proposing to shut down four Acadian Peninsula schools over the next five to seven years.
The district announced its proposal to close La Releve in Saint-Isidore, as well as Le Tremplin, La Ruche, and La Source schools in Tracadie last week due to the condition of the buildings.
Officials are considering several options, including bussing students to La Villa des Amis in Tracadie-Beach or La Passerelle in Pont-Landry, both of which would require expansions.
Local education councils will hold public meetings to bring parents up to speed and gather feedback.
The district says no action will be taken without first consulting with the public.
