Funding announced to support Charlo Airport

The provincial government has announced an investment of $450,000 for the Charlo Airport.

The funding will be used over a three-year period to explore new business opportunities and for hiring a chief executive officer.

Government says eight municipalities and local service districts will also contribute to the project with matching funds through the Restigouche Regional Service Commission.

Dave Montgomery, chairman of the Charlo Regional Airport Authority, says the partnership will help them develop and grow, leading to self-sustainability.

The airport serves a large portion of northern New Brunswick and the south shore of Quebec's Gaspé Peninsula.
