Future of CCNB's Xtreme Downhill Race uncertain

The future of one of the biggest winter events in the Atlantic provinces is uncertain.

Last month CCNB's Xtreme Downhill ice cross race on "College Hill" in Bathurst was cancelled due to unseasonably warm weather and head organizer Paolo Fongemie says recruiting volunteers to build the track is tough on college staff.

But Fongemie says new ideas will be needed to avoid another melt if organizers decide to to host the event again in 2018.

He says local farmers will be consulted on the best date to host the event while investments will need to be made in insulated sheets to cut down the track's exposure to the sun and wind.
