GoFundMe organized after weekend fire kills Fredericton man, destroys house in Cumberland Bay

A GoFundMe campaign has been organized for a Cumberland Bay couple after a weekend fire killed a Fredericton man and destroyed a house.

Dyllin Fearn's father Randy says his son was likely sleeping in his vehicle, something he'd often do instead of going inside and waking anyone up.

The family has been told the fire is believed to have started in the car's engine, and then spread to the house and a vehicle parked near the home.

The Cumberland Bay Fire Department responded around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, with the Coles Island and Cambridge-Narrows fire departments also called in to assist.

The Fire Marshal's Office is investigating.

The GoFundMe is set up to help cover funeral costs and repairs to the house.
