Greater Bathurst Chamber of Commerce members to vote on name change Thursday
Members of the Greater Bathurst Chamber of Commerce will gather to vote on an important motion on Thursday.
They'll decide on whether to officially change the organization's name to 'The Chaleur Chamber of Commerce' in an effort to be more inclusive of the region's towns, villages, and local service districts.
President Bob Lennon says communities have expressed that they feel like they're a part of the 'Chaleur region', not necessarily the 'Bathurst region', and that changing the name to the would make them feel more included.
Lennon says most of the Chamber's current members are from Bathurst and that it has been struggling for years to have more businesses from surrounding communities included.
The vote will take place at the Atlantic Host Hotel in Bathurst.
