Horses co-owned by Bathurst couple earn top honours at O'Brien Awards
A pair of racehorses co-owned by a Bathurst couple came up with top honours at the O'Brien Awards Gala in Mississauga, Ontario.
The O'Brien Awards are harness racing's equivalent to the Oscars.
Ron and Gail McLellan's Percy Bluechip was named two-year-old filly pacer of the year while their other horse, Classic Pro was chosen as the three-year-old colt pacer of the year.
Ron McLellan says having two of his horses win horse of the year in the same year is a once in a lifetime deal.
McLellan says his horses love what they do and when they hit the track, they're in it to win it.
The McLellan's are the owners of the McDonald's restaurant in Bathurst.
