Humboldt Broncos' athletic therapist succumbs to injuries following devastating crash

Relatives of Dayna Brons say they will remember her ``joyful smile'' and her ``passion and love of sport.''

The athletic therapist for the Humboldt Broncos is the 16th person to die following a horrific bus crash in Saskatchewan last week.

Brons died yesterday in a Saskatoon hospital at age 24 from the injuries she suffered in Friday's crash.

The Lake Lenore, Saskatchewan native suffered serious head trauma, had undergone two surgeries, and had been on a breathing apparatus and in an induced coma when she died.

The family has requested privacy as it grieves.

Lacrosse and soccer teams Brons also worked with and Canadian women's hockey icon Hayley Wickenheiser were among those who offered their support for the trainer before she passed away.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders also expressed condolences, saying Brons worked with the C-F-L team during the 2016 training camp.
