Ice in harbours could delay start of lobster season
Lobster harvesters are preparing their boats and traps for the season scheduled to get underway next week.
The season kicks off next Wednesday in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, however it may be delayed due to the slow departure of ice from harbours.
Lorenzo Doiron, who fishes out of Caraquet, tells the Acadie-Nouvelle the season likely won't get underway until May 4th or 5th.
An ice-breaking hovercraft from the Canadian Coast Guard has been busting ice in local harbours in preparation for the fishing season.
