Independent review of NB property tax system to be made public, Premier says
An independent report into New Brunswick's property tax system troubles will be made public without modification according to the Premier.
Errors stemming from an early rollout of the system saw more than 2,000 inflated tax bills sent out, resulting in tens of thousands of requests for Service New Brunswick to review tax bills.
Premier Brian Gallant says the matter has been a cause for concern for many New Brunswickers and that the report will help his government fix problems once and for all.
But Conservative leader Blaine Higgs says the judge's report isn't actually independent as it will be submitted to cabinet rather than the legislative assembly.
The judge's findings are expected by August 15th.
