Infrastructure updates coming to Cocagne Marina

Government of Canada

Ottawa is investing nearly $606,000 to help Cocagne Marina with infrastructure updates.

A release states the money will go towards dock upgrades, wharf repairs, building enhancements, and the addition of a pavilion to offer programming.

Christ Lee Fisher, President of the Cocagne Cape Port Authority, says, "this funding will help us renew and improve the marina's infrastructure, thus contributing to our sustainability, while enhancing our presence as a regional recreation area and coastal tourism destination. This will benefit numerous business operators and help us contribute to attracting more tourists to our area for longer stays, giving our region a chance to showcase everything it has to offer."

The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) says the project will help fuel the growth of tourism businesses such as kayak and canoe rentals, sailing and fishing charters, tour boats and others.

The federal government is providing the money through the ACOA's Innovative Communities Fund.
