Jane Fonda calls on Ottawa to listen to aboriginal people's concerns about resource development
(CP) - Jane Fonda says Canada should listen to aboriginal people and their concerns about resource development.
The actor and longtime environmental activist is in the oilsands hub of Fort McMurray, Alberta today to meet with local First Nations.
While Fonda says she backs their opposition to new pipeline projects, she also sympathizes with the concerns of oil workers and First Nations looking for a shot at greater prosperity.
Fonda points to renewable energy development as a source for economic spinoffs as opposed to a fossil fuel industry she says is on its way out.
