Lameque man who failed to register with National Sex Offenders Registry gets jail time

A Lameque man who failed to register with the National Sex Offender Registry after being convicted of sexual assault in 2005 has been given jail time.

41-year-old Louis-Richard Haché was serving a weekend sentence at the Dalhousie Correctional Centre last December, but he didn't show up.

Police located Haché in the Lameque area and arrested him back in may.

He's been sentenced to 90 days behind bars for fleeing from police and obstructing a peace officer and will be required to complete his original sentence.

Haché is scheduled to return to court next July to answer to probation-related charges.
