Language Commissioner makes recommendations for NB Liquor following complaints
The province's Official Languages Commissioner says NB Liquor still has some work to do when it comes to its official languages obligations.
Katherine d'Entremont made eight recommendations, including assessing the number of bilingual employees required for each store and hiring bilingual employees to fill identified gaps following an investigation into a lack of adequate French service at one of NB Liquor's locations.
D'Entremont also recommended that NB Liquor place fact sheets at each of its cash register to ensure bilingual services are offered at each of its stores.
The commissioner's report also highlighted the Crown corporation's willingness and planned initiatives to correct the problem.
There have been nearly 50 complaints made to d'Entremont's office about NB Liquor since 2006.
