Looming property tax bills causing anxiety for those waiting to be reassessed

The deadline to pay property tax bills is fast approaching, and causing anxiety among New Brunswickers facing inflated assessments yet still have to pay while they wait for an appeal.

August 1st is the deadline to request a review while the bills are due on May 31st.

Homeowners whose revised assessments go down will get a tax credit.

But reviews could take until 2018 to complete because of the number of New Brunswickers requesting them.

More than 15,000 New Brunswickers asked to be re-assessed this year, compared to last year's 7,100.
