MADD to launch Project Red Ribbon at RCMP Headquarters
The RCMP in New Brunswick is assisting Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Fredericton as they launch this year's annual Project Red Ribbon campaign.
The campaign recognizes and underscores the dangers of impaired driving.
To mark the 31st Project Red Ribbon Campaign, MADD will setup 120 white crosses, each bearing a red ribbon, and a pair of crutches, outside the provincial RCMP Headquarters in Fredericton.
According to an RCMP press release, the crosses represent the average number of lives lost every month in Canada as a result of impaired driving, while the crutches represent the thousands more who are injured in impaired driving related incidents.
The display will remain outside RCMP Headquarters for a week as a visual reminder for drivers of the consequences of impaired driving.
