Man and woman charged with multiple counts of possession of stolen property

The RCMP say a 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an investigation into the recovery of stolen property in Cocagne in November.

Police say a 21-year-old woman was arrested on November 7 after officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Route 535 and recovered a number of items identified as stolen, including vehicles, power tools, and industrial equipment and machinery.

RCMP say the man fled the residence on an ATV but was arrested on November 30.

Police say Mathieu Guignard, formerly of Cocagne, appeared in Moncton Provincial Court on December 3 where he was charged with 15 counts of possession of stolen property, as well as breach of probation.

RCMP say 21-year-old Brittany Thompson, also formerly of Cocagne, is charged with 14 counts of possession of stolen property.

Police say Gignard remains in custody and is scheduled to return to court on December 17, while Thompson returns to court on February 26, 2019.

RCMP say most of the stolen property has been returned to its rightful owner, but there are a few items whose owner has not been identified.

If you have had anything stolen from your home or property and have not reported it to police, the RCMP ask your local detachment.
