Man charged following seizure of weapons

(Submitted/RCMP)

Police say a 39-year-old man has been charged with three weapons offences after weapons and drugs were seized in Speerville on Tuesday.

RCMP say officers attended a home on Speerville Road around 10:30 a.m. on July 30.

Police say a search of the home led to the discovery of nine firearms, ammunition, bear mace and brass knuckles, as well as drugs and a man was arrested at the scene.

RCMP say two women, a 37-year-old and a 21-year-old from Speerville were arrested at the same location the following day and were both released pending future court dates.

Walter Patrick Michaud of Speerville appeared in Woodstock Provincial Court on Wednesday and was charged with unauthorized possession of firearms, unsafe storage of a firearm and unauthorized possession of prohibited weapons.

Police say he was released with conditions pending a court appearance in August to enter a plea.

The RCMP investigation is ongoing.
