Members of fishermen's union make financial contribution to local healthcare

Local fishermen are helping the Chaleur Regional Hospital purchase equipment to improve the lives of patients.

Members of the Maritime Fishermen's Union, Bay of Chaleur Local 10, announced a $63,000 to the Chaleur Regional Hospital Foundation on Tuesday.

The funds will be shared among the Mother-Child program, Ambulatory Care and Nuclear Medicine departments, a fitness trail, and the Roses Radiothon.

Hospital foundation's Jean-Guy Robichaud says the fishermen's generosity will help make a difference in the lives patients as well as support healthcare professionals so people in the region can receive better care and services.

Union's Yvon Arseneau says it was important for his group to give to causes that make a difference for many people.
