Mining company fills Bathurst council in on future project at Bathurst Mining Camp

A Vancouver-based mining company is planning a project it says is expected to extend its operations at the Bathurst Mining Camp.

Trevali Mining Corporation's Hein Frey filled Bathurst council in on the company's plan to build a second tailings pond near its Caribou Mine operation.

Frey says the infrastructure is expected to extend the mine's life expectancy well beyond the current three to four years as well as reduce its impact on the environment.

The project first requires government approval and the file is already in the hands of both the provincial and federal government for review.

There is no set timeline for the project as of yet, however Frey says the company hopes to begin construction as soon as possible, pending government approval.
