Miramichi signs agreement outlining its role & responsibilities leading up to 2018 Jeux de l'Acadie

The 38th edition of les Jeux de l'Acadie in Fredericton may have just come to a close, but Miramichi is already counting down the days until it hosts the popular sporting and cultural event.

Miramichi council signed a formal memorandum of understanding earlier this week outlining its role and responsibilities leading up to the 2018 edition of the games.

After the games wrapped up earlier this month, Fredericton's mayor handed off the official flag off to Miramichi mayor Adam Lordon who expects the games to attract some 17,000 spectators.

City officials expect economic spin-offs to be in the area of about $2 million.
