Moncton gets third pick in QMJHL draft despite having best odds for first
The rebuilding Moncton Wildcats will have third overall pick at the 2017 QMJHL draft in Saint John.
The league uses an electronic lottery draw to decide on the draft's selection order.
Moncton finished the regular season in last place and had the best odds of winning first pick but that went to Rimouski.
Wildcats general manager Roger Shannon tells the Times & Transcript that he's still happy to get a pick so early in the first round.
First pick goes to Rimouski, followed by Sherbrooke, Moncton, Halifax, and Val d'Or respectively.
The draft takes place on June 3rd.
