Motorists warned of increased traffic and checkpoints ahead of long weekend
It's called the unofficial kick-off of the summer, and drivers are encouraged to remember that will mean more cars on the road.
Provincial transport ministers throughout Atlantic Canada have been reminding motorists that as the roads grow more crowded they should refrain from texting and using their electronics while on the road.
The RCMP will be conducting checkpoints throughout the long weekend in a number of regions.
Drivers are also urged to be patient and reduce their speed while travelling through road construction zones.
