Mounties begin ticketing youths' good behaviour

The Mounties have started a program in two regions of New Brunswick that uses tickets as a carrot instead of a stick to encourage good behaviour.

RCMP officers in Kent County will watching for youths demonstrating good behaviour such as wearing a bicycle helmet, observing road safety rules and picking up trash, and will give them tickets that can be exchanged for a gift certificate.

In Greater Moncton, Codiac RCMP will be rewarding youth for wearing a helmet while being physically active.

Tickets can be used to enter a draw for a bicycle in each of Dieppe, Moncton and Riverview as well as other prizes to be drawn in September.
