N.B. Aquarium and Marine Centre dives into the 2019 tourist season

The New Brunswick Aquarium and Marine Centre in Shippagan will open for the season with a public celebration at 1:00 p.m. Sunday.

"We are starting the season with a bang," said Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries Minister Ross Wetmore. "The New Brunswick Aquarium and Marine Centre is a must-see tourist attraction, and the latest addition for this year will be a youth-themed pop-up dome tank. Visitors slipping under this tank will have the impression of being and breathing underwater."

The province says this new addition, combined with the harbour seal tank and touch tank, aims to offer visitors a memorable experience in a fun-themed environment.

According to a press release, the 2019 season will feature activity days, such as World Oceans Day on June 8, Taste of Land and Sea Day on July 19 and Kids' Day on August 17.

The aquarium also has extended operating hours this year, with visitors welcome 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily until September 28.
