N.B. Dept. of Education taking district's almost $900K estimated deficit very seriously

New Brunswick's Department of Education says it's taking a nearly $900,000 shortfall projected by the Francophone North East School District very seriously.

The Acadie-Nouvelle reports the deficit could result in cuts to some jobs and service.

Department's Benoit Levesque says the province is trying to get a clear picture of the projection in an effort to determine the extent of the situation.

Levesque says his department is currently working with district officials to identify issues as well as potential consequences.
