N.B. Naval Centre generates $2.2M surplus

Looks like financial difficulties faced by the New Brunswick Naval Centre in Bas-Caraquet may be a thing of the past.

The facility owed about $4 million to creditors before the provincial government took control with help from Ottawa in 2016.

Recent figures suggest the centre generated roughly $2.4 million in revenue and a surplus of nearly $2.2 million.

Several improvements and repairs have taken place since the province took control of the facility.

Caraquet MLA Hedard Albert says more improvement projects are expected to be completed soon.
