N.B. officials arrest two people, seize 126K illegal cigarettes, 165 cases of beer in Chaleur region
New Brunswick officials say two people were arrested after more than 126-thousand illegal cigarettes, 165 cases of beer and one vehicle were seized in the Chaleur region.
The seizures came as a result of stops by New Brunswick's Department of Justice and Public Safety, and Quebec provincial police, which were focused on the distribution of illegal tobacco products.
Officials say the beer seized had not been purchased in New Brunswick and the vehicle had been used to convey illegal tobacco products.
Tickets were issued under the Tobacco Tax Act and the Liquor Control Act and the two people arrested have since been released on a promise to appear in court at a later date.
