National Acadian Society president among two New Brunswickers appointed to Red Chamber

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has appointed two New Brunswickers to the Senate.

National Acadian Society president Rene Cormier, along with women's issues expert Nancy Hartling are among the nine new non-partisan appointments--five of which are from Atlantic Canada.

So far the appointments include five woman and four men, with two more batches of Senators expected to be appointed in the coming days.

More than 2,700 Canadians applied for 21 Senate seats.
