New Brunswick companies to attend Boston seafood show

The Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries says Minister Ross Wetmore will lead a delegation of more than 100 companies from the province to participate in the 2019 Seafood Expo North America.

The province says the exposition runs today to Tuesday and is one of North America's leading seafood marketing events, attracting more than 19,000 buyers and suppliers of seafood products, equipment and services.

Wetmore says, "New Brunswick wants to grow its seafood exports, and these few days every year in Boston are helping us to achieve that goal."

According to a press release, the seafood industry is a major contributor to the provincial economy, with last year's exports totaling $1.7 billion.

The province says this year's booth will have six co-exhibitors and nearly all of the province's seafood producers, harvester associations and industry service providers will be represented.
