New Brunswick language groups seek common ground ahead of provincial election
Two New Brunswick advocacy groups are seeking common ground ahead of next September's provincial election.
New Brunswick Acadian Society interim president Joey Couturier wants to meet with Anglophone Rights Association of New Brunswick president Sharon Buchanan 'as soon as possible' to begin an open and lasting dialogue about common issues like the planned privatization of some provincial health-care services.
Buchanan is open to building bridges between the two groups in an effort to put an end to long-standing linguistic tensions in the province.
A date for the meeting has not been set, however linguistic and economic issues, as well as a public question period are expected to be on the agenda.
