New judges will be appointed sooner than later, Justice & Public Safety Minister says

New Brunswick's Justice & Public Safety Minister says his department is in the process of hiring new judges to sit in parts of the province experiencing a judge shortage.

Denis Landry says interviews are taking place this week and that four new justice appointments are expected to be completed by the end of April.

The Bathurst-East-Nepisiguit-Saint-Isidore MLA says new judges will be appointed for Miramichi, Caraquet, Bathurst,  and Saint John.

A Miramichi judge said, earlier this week, that delay in appointing full- time judge is having an impact on the lives of citizens and that a judge presided over Miramichi hearings for one day last month over the phone from a Moncton courtroom.
