New park for Rough Waters thanks to successful music festival

The community of Rough Waters is getting a new community wellness park thanks to annual music festival.

The annual Rough Waters Bluegrass festival, held earlier this month, helped raise $12,000 which will be put towards building that comes with an estimated price tag of $60,000.

Festival director and president of the Rough Waters Chalet Dale Boucher tells the Northern Light that the park will be located on the land once occupied by the community's baseball field.

He says fundraisers will be held over the winter in an effort to drum up the remaining funds.

During the winter months, Chaleur Special Olympics will use the park for training.

Boucher says construction of the park is expected to begin sometime in September.
