New rules prevent E.S.N. student from playing same sports he played while at B.H.S.
New rules implemented by the New Brunswick Interscholastic Athletic Asociation last spring mean a 16-year-old ESN student won't be permitted to play his favourite sports until his graduating year.
Grade 11 student Spencer Colwell transferred from BHS to ESN to be with friends and because he did stronger academically there.
But the NBIAA rule prevents students who have changed schools from playing sports for one year after the transfer.
The NBIAA says the new rules came to be due to the high volume of transfers so students could play sports.
Colwell is permitted to take part in school sports as long as it's not a sport he played while a student at BHS.
That includes hockey, even though BHS won't have a school team this year due to a lack of members.
