Nominations open for municipal by-elections

Nominations have opened in 23 communities to fill 31 vacancies in by-elections.

The province says the by-elections will run on Monday December 10, with returning offices opening Monday November 5.

If more than one candidate is nominated for a position, then a by-election will be held.

The province says nomination papers can be picked up from a municipal returning officer or at local municipal offices.

They can also be printed from the Elections New Brunswick website.

Communities with vacant positons are:

-    Alma (one councillor);
-    Aroostook (mayor and one councillor)
-    Bathurst (one councillor);
-    Beaubassin East (councillors for wards 3 and 4);
-    Dalhousie (one councillor);
-    Doaktown (mayor);
-    Florenceville-Bristol (one councillor for ward 2);
-    Hanwell (mayor);
-    Hartland (one councillor);
-    Lac Baker (one councillor);
-    Memramcook (one councillor);
-    Minto (mayor and one councillor);
-    Moncton (one councillor for Ward 3);
-    Nackawic (one councillor);
-    Rexton (one councillor);
-    Rivière-Verte (one councillor);
-    Sackville (one councillor);
-    Saint Andrews (one councillor);
-    Salisbury (one councillor);
-    Shediac (mayor);
-    St. George (one councillor);
