North Shore(N.B) Regiment to honour local veteran at annual D-Day commemoration ceremony in Bathurst

The North Shore New Brunswick Regiment is holding its annual gathering Saturday to commemorate the anniversary of the historic D-Day landing in Normandy, France.

This year's celebration aims to generate ground swell from regional elected leaders and members of the business community, as well as re-establish and reinforce links between the regiment and World War 2 North Shore veterans' family members ahead of next year's milestone 75th anniversary.

The regiment will be on parade at its monument in Coronation Park in Bathurst beginning at 10:45am, followed by a barbeque picnic at at Bathurst High School.

A special dinner will be held by the North Shore Veterans Association  at 4:45pm where Military Cross recipient Major R.M. Hickey will be honoured for his exceptional contributions as the regiment's Padre during World War 2.
