Obstetrical services at Chaleur Regional Hospital remain closed

Vitalité Health Network wishes to inform the public in the Chaleur and Acadian Peninsula regions that obstetrical (childbirth) services at Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst will not re-open January 7.

Gilles Lanteigne, President and CEO of Vitalité Health Network says the closure, "is a regrettable situation that is unfortunately beyond our control."

He added a number of unforeseen circumstances had blocked the re-opening planned for Monday.

The Network says it is now working to re-establish the service on February 4, 2019.

During the closure, pregnant women will be referred to Campbellton Regional Hospital or Miramichi Regional Hospital for their deliveries.

Vitalité Health Network says pregnant women with questions can call 544-2310 for more information on how to proceed during the temporary closure.
