Opposition leader calls for Premier's resignation over property tax controversy

New Brunswick's Opposition leader is calling for the Premier's resignation over the province's property tax controversy.

Blaine Higgs says it was Premier Brian Gallant's decision to fast-track a new automated assessment program that resulted whopping property tax increases for thousands of New Brunswickers.

Higgs says Gallant tried to hide it, deflect it, and blame others rather than take accountability or leadership.

He says the Premier has caused an enormous amount of stress and worry throughout the civil service, particularly in Service New Brunswick.
