Ottawa announces ACOA investment in Design Built Mechanical
The Government of Canada is investing in a Charlo company to develop an improved system for treating wastewater.
In a press release yesterday, Ottawa says the Design Built Mechanical system will reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the amount of chemicals needed to control algae in effluent ponds, and aeration requirements, while improving the overall process to treat wastewater.
The government says it is providing a conditionally repayable contribution of $500,000 for this project through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA).
According to the press release, the expansion of Design Built Mechanical into new clean tech markets will provide long-term economic benefits to the community as well as address ongoing concerns in the treatment of wastewater.
The system will enable municipalities to extend the life of their lagoons, as well as lower operating costs and produce cleaner treated water for residents.
