Ottawa is helping Atlantic Potato Distributors expand its plant in Perth-Andover

A release says new equipment will automate the loading of bagged potatoes onto pallets, which will help the business increase its exports to clients in the US and beyond.

Through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), the government is providing a repayable contribution of $952.500 for the project.

Mark Hanscome, President of Atlantic Potato Distributors, says "Since 1993 we have gradually grown each year, investing in improving efficiencies with automated processes. Each expansion has brought new business, creating employment in New Brunswick."

Hanscome adds the company has identified areas for improvement with Ottawa's help that will increase efficiencies, create jobs and alleviate labour shortages.

The province of New Brunswick is also giving $178,610 towards the expansion.
