Parishioners fear Holy Family Church in Bathurst could close

Parioshioners at the Holy Family Church in Bathurst are fearing for the future of their place of worship.

A summary of the church's finances and a message from Fathers Keith Goldrup and Gerry Croteau published in a bulletin earlier this month shows a $64 balance in Holy Family's general account.

The bulletin goes on to say that the church is expected to run out of money by this September.

That has parishioners fearing that their church could shut its doors.

Meanwhile, Roger Savoie, the finance officer for the Bathurst Diocese, says a decision on whether to close the church has not yet been made.

Savoie says that no matter what decision is made, local parishioners will never miss out on religious services in the language of their choice.
