Paying for parking in Bathurst? Now there's an app for that

Paying for parking in Bathurst has just become a bit easier thanks to a new partnership with a Fredericton-based company.

The city has joined forces with HotSpot Technology to integrate its mobile app parking payment service for Bathurst downtown parking areas.

Drivers who use the Harbourview Boulevard, Cunard Street or St. George Street parking areas will now be able to pay for and manage their parking time through the HotSpot Parking app.

A fourth parking area, located on Main Street, will be activated next Monday with a $1 hourly rate.

Interim City Manager Todd Pettigrew says the app will make it hassle-free for those using these parking areas, which is a positive for people heading downtown for business or leisure.

The app costs $2 a month or $20 a year and can be used throughout all major centres in the three Maritime provinces.
