Planning underway for new fire hall in Grande-Anse

The Village of Grande-Anse is moving ahead with plans for a new $600,000 fire hall after the old station was closed on September 22nd.

Interim Mayor Gilles Theriault told the Times & Transcript he's on a committee with municipal councillors and members of the volunteer fire brigade to work on plans for the new station, adding they hope to get the project started early next year.

WorkSafeNB Communications Director Manon Arsenault told the paper a health and safety officer responded to a complaint of mould at the fire hall early last month, and three orders were written.

Theriault says it would have cost $225,000 to carry out those orders and clean up the old station, so the fire hall was moved to a temporary location in a municipal garage.
