Police take to Moncton skies in search of teen's remains

Volunteers and police scoured the area around Université de Moncton Saturday as the search for the remains of a missing St. Stephen teen continues.

The Telegraph-Journal reports police and the Tri-County Search and Rescue teams searched through the wooded and grassy areas on both sides of Crowley Farm Road, immediately west of the campus.

In tweets yesterday, the RCMP said they and the Tri-County Ground Search and Rescue would be in the Moncton area as part of the investigation into the death of Brayden Thibault.

On July 30, police announced they believe Thibault was murdered, and the Major Crime Unit will be searching different locations for his remains in the coming weeks.

The paper reports teams of search and rescue volunteers could be seen on both sides of the Crowley Farm Road, while a pair of search and rescue volunteers had a small boat on the pond between the road and Wheeler Boulevard.

An RCMP police helicopter was in the sky for the majority of the morning.

The search wrapped up around 5:30 p.m., when the RCMP tweeted its thanks to the public for their understanding and cooperation.
