Preliminary inquiry set for man charged in fatal crash

A preliminary inquiry has been set for an Eel River bar First Nation man charged in connection with a fatal crash last summer.

29-year-old Kirk Labillois pleaded not guilty in March to charges of leaving the scene of an accident involving bodily harm and leaving the scene of an accident involving death.

RCMP said a pickup truck struck a Honda Civic head-on after crossing the centre line of Route 11 in Charlo in August of 2018.

The driver of the car died at the scene while the passenger received serious but non-life-threatening injures.

Three days have been set aside for the hearing scheduled to begin on October 1st.
